Heat Advisory Remains In Effect For DC

A heat advisory remains in effect for the DC area until 8:00 this evening. The National Weather Service says temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s with heat index values around 105. An excessive heat watch has been issued from tomorrow afternoon through tomorrow evening with temps nearing 100-degrees and the heat index possibly reaching 110.

Community Responds To Deadly Silver Spring Explosion

The community is responding to the deadly Silver Spring explosion and fire in a huge way. Contributions to groups like CASA de Maryland are so overwhelming that the biggest need right now is more volunteers to sort out the items. The Long Branch Community Recreation Center is the temporary home to 57 former residents of the Flower Branch Apartments, where the blast killed at least two people and injured around 35 others with at least five more still missing.

Clinton Releases Tax Returns

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is releasing her 2015 tax returns. Clinton and her husband Bill earned over 10-million dollars combined last year. They paid three-point-six million in taxes. The Clintons paid a federal tax rate of 34-point-two percent. The combined federal, state and local tax figure was 43-point-two percent. Nearly ten percent of the Clintons’ adjusted gross income went to charity. Meantime, Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine released tax returns dating back ten years.
