L’Enfant Plaza Station Fills With Smoke

The busy L’Enfant Plaza Metrorail station in downtown DC is being evacuated due to smoke. No details are being given so far about what may have caused the smoke and if there is a fire in the station.  Service on the Green, Yellow, Orange, Blue and Silver lines is affected for the afternoon rush hour.There are no reports of injuries at this point.


Investigators Hope To Find Human Remains In Dig

Investigators are conducting a dig at a remote property in Southwest Virginia as they search for two young sisters who disappeared from Montgomery County, Maryland in 1975.  They’re searching for Katherine and Sheila Lyon who police believe were abducted.  Bedford County Sheriff Mike Brown says they hope to know more by mid-week if the two girls were buried on the property.

 College Football National Championship Tonight

The first College Football Playoff national championship is taking place tonight, with Ohio State taking on Oregon at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  The Buckeyes advanced to the title game by defeating top-ranked Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day.  Oregon downed defending champion Florida State that same day in the Rose Bowl.  Tonight’s contest kicks off at 8:30 and will air on ESPN
