Officer-Involved Shooting in Oxon Hill

(Oxon Hill, MD) —  Prince George’s County Police officials are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting.  Police say there were reports of someone shooting a a liquor store in the 6200 block  of Livingston Road.  A plain-clothes officer who observed the shooting then shot the suspect.

Trump Criticizes Manafort Trial

(Washington, DC) — President Trump is criticizing the federal case against former campaign chief Paul Manafort. In a tweet today, Trump suggested Manafort is being treated worse than legendary mob boss Al Capone. He also asked, “Where is the Russian collusion?” Manafort’s trial is underway in Northern Virginia. He is being tried for multiple counts of tax and banking fraud. The charges are not directly related to the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

White House Explains Trump Tweet On Sessions, Russia

(Washington, DC) — White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders says President Trump is not trying to obstruct justice but he is “fighting back.” Reporters pressed Sanders today on a presidential tweet, calling on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to end the Russia investigation. Sanders described the tweet as an opinion, not an order. She also referred to the ongoing probe as ridiculous. In his tweet, Trump again called the Russia investigation a “rigged witch hunt” and said any allegation of collusion is a “TOTAL HOAX.”

US Appeals Court: Trump ‘sanctuary cities’ Order Is illegal

(San Francisco) –President Donald Trump’s executive order threatening to withhold funding from “sanctuary cities” that limit cooperation with immigration authorities is unconstitutional, but a judge went too far when he blocked its enforcement nationwide, a U.S. appeals court ruled Wednesday. In a 2-1 ruling, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed that the order exceeded the president’s authority.

“Absent congressional authorization, the administration may not redistribute or withhold properly appropriated funds in order to effectuate its own policy goals,” Chief Judge Sidney Thomas wrote for the majority.
