PG Police Shoot And Kill Robbery Suspect

Clinton, MD – A man is dead following a police-involved shooting in Clinton. Prince George’s County Police Chief Hank Stawinski says officers responded this morning to an alarm call at a Checkers restaurant on Woodyard Road. Once on the scene, officers found a suspect inside the store where the safe is located. At one point, police say the suspect came to a side door and produced a handgun. That’s when one officer fired, hitting the suspect. He died at a hospital. It’s unclear whether the suspect fired his weapon. Police continue to investigate.

Man Charged In Early Morning Double Murder In Sterling

Sterling, VA – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is charging a man following a shooting early this morning in Sterling that left two people dead. Thirty-four-year-old Hassan Gailani is being charged with two counts of first degree murder. Gailani was taken into custody just before 2 a.m. when officers spotted him trying to leave the Pharoah Cafe and hookah bar on Old Ox Road. Officers later found two people inside the bar dead of gunshot wounds. Investigators say Gailani knew both victims. A possible motive has not been announced.

U.S. Supreme Court Strikes Down Ban On Sports Betting

Washington, DC – The U.S. Supreme Court is overturning a sports betting ban. New Jersey had challenged the ban claiming it was unfair that gambling on sports has been allowed in Nevada and just a few other states. Many states could begin to legalize betting on college and professional sports following the ruling.

Football Veteran DeAngelo Hall Retires

Defensive back DeAngelo Hall announced his retirement from the NFL
on Monday after a 14-year playing career.  Hall was originally selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the eighth overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.  The three-time Pro Bowl selection was traded to the Raiders in March 2008 but lasted just eight games in Oakland before being released. Hall signed a one-year contract with Washington Redskins just three days later and spent portions of the last 10
seasons with the club.
