The Senate approves The Ashanti Alert Act…

In September Congress approved the Ashanti Alert Act. Yesterday the Senate did the same. The measure moves to the house.

The bill would create an alert system for missing adults who are too old for the AMBER Alert and too young for the Silver Alert.

It is named after 19-year-old Ashanti Billie, a Prince George’s County college student who was kidnapped from a Norfolk military base. She was then found 11 days later murdered in North Carolina. Police arrested a homeless Veteran who was living near where she was working while attending college.
