SAY IT AIN’T SO?! Could This News Mean Daddy Pope will DIE on SCANDAL?

All of us who saw Scandal last night know Daddy Pope is fighting for his life. (Shouts to HU alum Debbie Allen who directed the episode) Could the self-described “hell & hot water” no longer bring us some of the most compelling moments & one line zingers in Scandal? Yes Momma Pope is a bad-azz but we all know nobody can rip a new one into someone like Daddy Pope!

I have my own ideas about Daddy Pope’s situation, which I shared last night during the @HUR_Voices Scandalous Twitter takeover. For example:

Despite my musings in live tweeting #scandal sessions, the following news I read at The Hollywood Reporter may mean that Daddy Pope may very well be killed off — whether it be by himself or Momma Pope (Maybe she, Jake or annoying Quinn will show up at the hospital and pull the plug). Ultimately we know the greatest #scandal momma of them all Shonda Rhimes is playing God in this situation. Daddy Pope’s fate lies in the stroke of her pen.

But could this article be a spoiler? If nothing else, it gives us a clue.  Daddy PLEASE don’t die! Not yet anyway!

‘Scandal’s’ Joe Morton Boards TNT’s ‘Proof’

Via The Hollywood Reporter

Scandal‘s Joe Morton may have found a new full-time gig.

The actor, who has been recurring on the third season of ABC’s red-hot Scandal, has booked a series regular role on TNT’s drama pilot Proof, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Proof centers on a skeptical, hard-science, female surgeon, Katherine (The L Word’s Jennifer Beals), who has been struggling with family issues, including a tragic death. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings — all of it looking for verifiable proof to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond?

Morton will co-star as Dr. Charles Russell, the serious, dry and — naturally — intimidating head of Katherine’s hospital. He’s hard-pressed to control her but appreciates her abilities and commitment.

Rob Bragin (Murphy Brown, Greek) penned the script for Proof and will executive produce alongside Kyra Sedgwick, Tom Jacobson, Jill Littman and Alex Graves, the latter of whom directed the pilot. Additionally, Sean Gleeson has boarded the pilot, playing Dr. Len Barliss, Katherine’s ex-husband who still works with her at the hospital. Len and Katherine currently share custody of Sophie, their rebellious teenage daughter.

For Morton, the casting in the pilot leaves the door open for the actor to return to Scandal, where he’s been a recurring guest star playing Rowan, the mysterious father to Kerry Washington‘s Olivia Pope and the former head of black-ops group B613. The role earned him a NAACP Image Award for outstanding supporting actor in a drama.

Morton, whose credits include Terminator 2, Speed and Eureka, is repped by Talent Works and Vanguard Management.
