Trial begins for one of three brothers charged in death of Officer Jacai Colson…

Jury selection is set to begin today in Prince George’s County for Michael Ford. He is one of three brothers charged in the death of Officer Jacai Colson.

In 2016, Michael Ford and two of his brothers drove up to the Palmer Park Police station and opened fired. Undercover Police Officer Jacai Colson heard the report of shots fired at the police station and rushed to help his fellow officers. When Officer Colson arrived he witnesses the exchange of gunfire between Ford of officers and he opened fire. Police inside the station thought Officer Colson who was in plain clothes was one of the suspects and they shot and killed him. A grand jury decided not to criminally charged the officer.

24-year-old Ford faces several charges including murder and attempted murder charges. He’s accused of trying to get the police to kill him during the March 2016 shooting attack. His brother’s Malik and Elijah plead guilty to charges connected with the attack in October of 2017. The brothers planned and recorded the attacks with a cell phone.

Some 5,000 migrants are headed to the U.S./Mexico border…

The number of migrants seeking asylum has swelled to over 5,000. They are making their way to the U.S. Mexico border in a huge caravan that has captured President Trump’s attention and the world.

Trump has vowed to shut down the border if the countries they are coming from do not stop them. It’s unclear how they will be able to do so, but Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala officials say they are working on the matter.

The migrants say they are fleeing Honduras because of the drugs, violence and for a better life in America. The Mexican government is trying to process the request from members of the group that left Honduras a week ago. They are reportedly 1,500 miles from the border in Tapachula, Mexico. Many of those questioned by reporters following them say they are not discouraged by Presidents Trumps threat to use military force against them.
