Residents in Burtonsville are grieving the senseless and unexplained death of a promising young man.

On Saturday 18-year-old Damion Callery Junior opened his basement door to someone who was knocking on it asking for someone named Kevin. When Callery opened the door he was shot and killed.

The shooting happened at his home in the Fairland area of the county. Callery was set to start college this week at Bowie State University. His father said he was the first of his sons to go to college and that he had a bright future ahead of him.

There’s no word on a motive or who they were asking for by the name of Kevin. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
