Council members request Pugh to step downÂ
The Baltimore City Council wants Mayor Catherine Pugh to resign, immediately. The council sent its demands to the mayor via letter this morning.
Pugh has been heavily criticized following reports that companies that do business with the city bought several hundred thousand dollars worth of children series books written by the mayor. Pugh has been on sick leave since the allegations came to light. Today, a mayoral spokesperson said Pugh will return to work when she is healthy. The state prosecutor has opened an investigation into the book sales.
