Local Lawmaker Introduces The “Crown Act” To Protect AA’s From Discrimination At Work

Montgomery County members Will Juwando and Nancy Navarro plan to introduce a bill this morning to the board to protect African American residents from being discriminated against because they choose to wear their natural hair.

It’s called the Crown Act. It stands for creating a respectful and open world for natural hair. This bill would apply to the county’s current anti-discrimination laws.

The public will get a chance to weigh in on it on October 15th. Today’s board meeting begins at 9:15 a.m.
