Tennessee Crowns Their First A.A. Miss Tennessee

It’s actually a historic year in the world of pageants.

It has been a historic year of the pageant world. Now to add to it is the crowning of the first African American for the state of Tennessee.

First-grade teacher Brianna Mason has won the title of Miss Tennessee. On Saturday, she became the first African American to win the title in the state’s 80-year pageant history.

It’s important to note that the Miss American is a separate competition then the Miss USA pageant system. The Miss USA system includes Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe. Mason moves on to compete for the Miss America title.


It’s actually a historic year in the world of pageants. The reigning Miss America, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA are all African American females.
