Remembering Patrick Ellis

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, colleague, friend, and esteem member of the 96.3 WHUR Family Patrick Ellis.  Patrick died Thursday July 16th due to complications from the coronavirus.  Patrick was part of the backbone of WHUR and the Washington, D.C. community.  He was the longest running host on radio in this region.  Patrick Ellis was 77-years-old.  You can send your condolences by calling the Patrick Ellis Tribute Line at 202-750-4924 or submitting them in the form below.  Rest In Paradise Patrick.  Until we meet again!!!

When I moved to Washington DC five years ago here in his boys by accident one Sunday morning was the first thing that made me feel truly welcome here and you all city thank you thank you for being a man of God thank you for having at welcome Inn boys thank you for all the songs that you played the touch somebody’s heart every Sunday morning including mine thank you may you rest in eternal peace

I grew up listening to Mr. Ellis on Sunday mornings with my grandparents. His voice was as inspirational and moving as the gospel songs he played on the air. Mr. Ellis is one of the reasons Sunday mornings were so special to me growing up. He will be missed. RIP.
