Trump to give address shutdown

President Trump said today, via tweet,  that he will be making a major announcement Saturday concerning the “Humanitarian Crisis on the Southern Border, and the Shutdown.” The president says the announcement will happen at 3 P.M. from the White House.


Ex-police officer that killed black Chicago teen will go to jail

The former Chicago officer convicted of killing an African American teenager was sentenced to more than six-years in prison today.  Jason Van Dyke, who is white, shot and killed 17-year-old Laquan McDonald in October of 2014. Authorities initially said McDonald lunged at police officers. Police dashboard camera recording showed McDonald was moving away when Van Dyke opened fire, hitting the teenager 16 times.  In October of 2018, Van Dyke was found guilty of second degree murder in the shooting of McDonald.  Thursday, three other Chicago police officers were acquitted after being accused of helping cover up the incident.

More R. Kelly accusations and Chappelle on Kelly confrontation 

Another woman is accusing R. Kelly of sexual abuse. Tracy Sampson says Kelly began sexually abusing her when she 16 and working as an intern at Epic Records. There are reports that Sony Records has now dropped the singer from its label.   Comedian and DC native Dave Chappelle says “R.” Kelly wanted to fight him over his impersonation of him on his Chappelle’s Show in 2003.  Chappelle said Kelly’s “goons” threatened him over a sketch that referenced the child pornography charges against Kelly.  Meanwhile, a former manager for R. Kelly is surrendering to Georgia police on charges that he threatened an accuser of the singer.
