(Friday, May 7, 2021) – Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has apparently had enough. She announced last night in a statement that she will not seek reelections this year.
“While I am not yet certain of what the future holds, I trust that my next season will continue to be one full of passion and purpose,” said Bottoms in a letter published online.
Bottoms says she and her husband had given thought and prayer about the decision. “It is with deep emotions that I hold my head high and choose not to seek another term as Mayor.”
Bottoms has been seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party. She was one of the top contenders to serve as President Joe Biden’s vice president. Bottoms has also been a big voice in the discussions about racial equity and police reform in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd.
