Sandy Hook Families Settle $73M Suit with Gunmaker

(Tuesday, February 15, 2022) – Nine families of of the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre have reportedely agreed to a $73 million settlement with gun manufacturer Remington.

The families filed suit against Remington, maker of the Bushmaster AR-15.   That was the weapon used in the 2012 killing spree that left  20 first graders and six educators dead.

The families and a survivor of the shooting sued Remington in 2015, arguing Remington should have never sold such a dangerous weapon to the  public.  The Connecticut civil court case focused on how the firearm was marketed, alleging it targeted younger at-risk males in marketing and product placement in violent video games.


After murdering his mother at their home, 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children and 6 adults at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut before taking his own life.  It was one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.
