The Starbucks in Union Station is one of 16 Starbucks locations across the country expected to close as a part of an effort to address multiple incidents and enhance employee safety.
Multiple outlets have reported the news which was first confirmed by the Wall Street Journal.
In an open letter to employees the company said it may change “operations, closing a restroom, or even closing a store permanently, where safety in the third place is no longer possible” to enhance safety and empower employees.
The letter said that employees impacted by closures will have the opportunity to transfer to a differing location.
“We want you to know that creating a safe, welcoming, and kind third place is our top priority. Because simply put, we cannot serve as partners if we don’t first feel safe at work,” the letter said.
