(Tuesday, April 4, 2023) – Former President Donald Trump had his first in what is likely to be many more days in court today to face charges that he conspired to illegally influence the 2016 election. Trump entered a not guilty plea to the 34 count felony indictment against him.
Trump entered the Manhattan courtroom Tuesday around 2:30pm after first appearing in the district attorney’s office to be taken into custody and processed. It is the first time in U.S. history that a former president has appeared in court as a criminal defendant.
Prosecutors unsealed the indictment against Trump. The case involved payoffs through an intermediary to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels to conceal an alleged affair ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Trump will address his supporters at 8pm.
Trump’s next court appearance will be December 4th with a possible trial in January 2024.
