Coast Guard: Missing Titanic Submersible Demolished

All passengers on a submersible used to view the Titanic are believed to be dead.

(Undated) — The Coast Guard confirms the submersible used to view the Titanic was found demolished on the ocean floor. Rear Admiral John Mauger said a robotic sub found parts of the missing Titan 16-hundred feet from the bow of the Titanic. Mauger said there was some catastrophic failure and gave his condolences to the family members affected.

All passengers on a submersible used to view the Titanic are believed to be dead. OceanGate, the company behind the sub excursion program, released a statement saying it believes all five passengers have been lost. The Titan disappeared Sunday when it was bound for the wreck of the Titanic at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
