(Gaithersburg, MD) — Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones is getting ready to ride off into the sunset. He announced this morning that he plans to retire effective July 1st after nearly 40 years with the department. Jones began his career with MCPD in September 1985 and worked his way up the ladder to become chief in 2019. He expressed his gratitude for the privilege of serving the community and said he’s proud of the department’s advances. A search for Jones’ replacement will start right away.
