Upper Marlboro, Maryland (Saturday, July 6, 2024) – Maryland State Police are investigating an early Saturday morning crash that left three young men dead. Police say the crash happened shortly after 3 a.m. on Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue near Presidential Parkway in Upper Marlboro.

The accident, involving three vehicles, claimed the life of 24-year-old Khyree Jackson, a 4th round pick in the 2024 NFL draft. The Minnesota Vikings cornerback was a passenger. Also killed were 23-year-old Isaiah Hazel and 24-year-old Anthony Lytton. Both are from Upper Marlboro. Police say Hazel was the driver.

According to police, the three men, all graduates of Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, were riding in a Dodge Charger when they were struck by an Infinity Q50 traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the Q50 has been identified as Cori Clingman. Police say the Charger, after it was hit, subsequently traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck multiple tree stumps before coming to a rest. All three occupants in the Charger were killed. Another vehicle was also struck, a Chevrolet Impala. None of the other drivers or passengers were hurt.

Investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor and charges are pending.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said in a statement. “Khyree brought a contagious energy to our facility and our team. His confidence and engaging personality immediately drew his teammates to him. In our short time together, it was evident Khyree was going to develop into a tremendous professional football player, but what was more impressive was his desire to become the best person he could be for his family and those around him. I am at a loss of words. My heart goes out to Khyree’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches.”
