3 DC Officers Shot In NE. Suspect Dead

#Breaking- Washington, D.C. (Monday, January 13, 2025) – Three D.C. police officers were injured in a shooting this morning and a suspected gunman was killed in the 300 block of Florida Avenue in NE.

Police Chief Pamela Smith said the drama began around 4:30 a.m. after officers responded to a 911 call of gunfire in a residential building. During a morning news conference several hours later, Chief Smith said when the officers got to the location they encountered the suspect who then tried to runoff. “The individual jumps on a elevator and goes to whatever floor. He comes back down and then he engages the officers and produces a handgun.” Three officers were struck by gunfire. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and are all expected to survive.

“This is yet another reminder of the daily dangers we face in our city and across the U.S. I’m very grateful that our officers were able to get through this particular incident without any further injuries,” added Chief Smith.


The name of the suspected gunman has not yet been released. Officers involved in the shooting have been placed on routine administrative leave as the incident is investigated.
