DC City Council votes on reprimanding a fellow council member …

The DC City Council is set to meet this morning at 11 am at the Wilson Building. Atop there list whether to reprimand Council Member Jack Evans. Evans who is the longest-serving elected official in the District is under fire for using his government email to solicit business with law firms that lobby the DC Government.

Last week Evans apologized. Some on the council want him stripped of his chairmanship for Metro and or the Committee on Finance and Revenue. That is likely not going to happen. A Federal Grand Jury is also looking into the emails and the Board of Ethics and Government Accountability have launched an investigation into the matter

Montgomery County leaders look at tougher drinking water lead levels…

Lawmakers in Montgomery County are looking changing the laws around the county’s school lead levels for water fountains. The decision for a tighter bill follows 249 schools fountains that tested positive for high lead levels. Well over the state lead water limits. The school systems says over 13-thousand school throughout the county were tested.


Later today there will be a public hearing on the bill. The city council will vote on the measure later this month. If the bill passes the county could actually place the same lead level restrictions at fountains at libraries, child care centers, playgrounds, and recreation centers within the county.
