(Washington, DC) — The Justice Department is bidding farewell to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Rosenstein is moving on after overseeing most of the nearly two-year Russia investigation. During a ceremony today, Attorney General Bill Barr called Rosenstein a man of exceptional intelligence and sound judgment. He also referred to Rosenstein as unflappable. Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Rosenstein is one of the top Justice Department leaders in U.S. history.
Rosenstein hired Special Counsel Robert Mueller [[ MULL-er ]] after President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey [[ COE-me ]] in 2017. Sessions had recused himself from the Russia investigation due to his work as an adviser to the Trump presidential campaign in 2016.
