Prince George’s County Delegate Resigns, Criminally Charged

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Prince George’s County Delegate Tawanna Gaines has been charged in federal court with wire fraud. Gaines resigned late last week from her General Assembly seat.  In a statement released today,  Adrienne Jones, the speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates said lawmakers can’t sacrifice the public trust for “personal gain.”  Jones says she accepted the Prince George’s County Democrat’s resignation on Friday.  Gaines was the vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee.
