Former Baltimore Mayor Indicted On Federal Tax Evasion

Pugh who is 69-years-old faces up to 175 years in prison.

Several news sources are reporting that former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh has been indicted on 11 Federal Fraud counts.

Federal prosecutors have charged Pugh with fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy. A grand jury decision on the matter was released today. The indictment claims she defrauded local businesses and nonprofits groups with $800,000 dollars in sales of her children’s book series “Healthy Holly”. Pugh self-published and promoted the sale of it while in office and on the campaign trail. In addition, the grand jury said she double sold her book and used the profits to purchase a home, donations to her campaign and pay down debt. Prosecutors allege she shortened the government by some $100,000 dollars.
