A fire that left a woman dead and a man in critical condition is raising concerns about staffing and response times in Prince George’s County. The fire broke out at a home on Inlet Street in New Carrollton around 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Three calls were made to three different fire stations nearby and none of them were staffed. Landover Hills Fire Department responded to a fourth call and reach the scene of the fire. 40-year-old Anita Ellis died as a result of the fire and a 20-year-old man is in critical condition. Prince George’s Deputy Fire Chief Brian Frankel says the response time wasn’t delayed. Fire officials are conducting an internal review of staffing needs. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
