DC Mayor Bowser Provides Another Update On Coronavirus

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is considering a public health emergency to help contain the spread of the coronavirus in the District. She says she will make a finael decision later today.


Washington, D.C. – (March 9, 2019) – The outbreak of the coronavirus has officials across the DMV scrambling to keep pace.  In the District, Mayor Muriel Bowser held another press conference this morning to update residents and the media on the impact in DC.  The efforts come as the District had to close two schools today.  The School Without Walls High School and DC International were shut as a precaution for a thorough cleaning.  Christ Church of Georgetown was also shutdown over the weekend after it was learned a church official has the virus.

The mayor today called on persons who have visited the Christ Church Georgetown in DC on February 24th or between February 28th – March 3rd to self-quarantine for 14 days.  Persons who exhibit any symptoms is asked to call DC Health at 202-576-1117 or if you have questions to email coronavirus@dc.gov.

Bowers says she is considering a pubic health emergency and will make a final decision by today.  Thus far, two cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in DC.
