‘New Jack City’ Reboot Is In The Works

Yet another 1990’s classic is getting a reboot. Warner Bros announced that a “New Jack City” reboot is in the works. “Snowfall” actor Malcolm M. Mays will be writing the screenplay, as reported by Deadline. Bill Gerber is also on the team as the producer.

Malcolm M. Mays is currently starring in the FX series “Snowfall” as Kevin Hamilton. According to IMDb, Mays is also writing “Flint,” a film about ex-con who gets entangled in a murder mystery set against the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Mays also penned “Ferguson,” the movie adaptation of the book “Tell the Truth & Shame the Devil: The Life, Legacy and Love of My Son Michael Brown.” Bill Gerber most recently produced “A Star is Born.”

Set in New York City in the middle of the 1980’s crack epidemic, the 1991 crime blockbuster tells the story of a detective, portrayed by Ice-T goes undercover as a gang member to take down the drug lord that is responsible for his mother’s death.

The movie is set to be released in 2021, according to MovieWeb, but as of now, neither a director or stars have been announced yet, but maybe the original cast will reprise their iconic roles.
