Washington, D.C. (Monday, November 29, 2021) – A newly discovered version of the coronavirus has health experts around the globe searching for answers of how to contain it. The omicron variant was first reported in South Africa and now cases are being found Australia, Britain, and Canada.
Here in the United States there have been no cases of omicron reported so far. But even Dr. Anthony Fauci believes cases are inevitable. The U.S. has imposed travel restrictions from South Africa and several other African nations. Meantime, President Biden is set to provide an update later Monday on how his administration plans to tackle this latest COVID strain. Health experts say it could take at least two weeks to determine how transmittable omicron is and if current vaccines are effective against it.
