Hyattsville, Maryland – (Friday, November 8, 2019) – It’s no secret that the holidays can be a brutal time if you’re trying to lose weight, not gain weight, or just set your sights on a healthier lifestyle. Statistics show that between Thanksgiving and the New Year, the average American can pack on an additional five to eleven pounds.
That’s why 96.3 WHUR and NBC4 partnered up for a fitness campaign to help the DMV “Fight the Holidays Bulge.” The two media stations hit the road for an early Friday morning workout at Peppermill Community Center in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Dozens of residents showed up alert and ready to put in some real sweat equity with fitness guru Leona Brown from Conversion Fitness. Plus you know WHUR can’t hit the streets without tickets, t-shirts, and more goodies. After the sweat, folks got tickets to all of the latest hot concerts and productions in the DMV.
The workout was part of a live broadcast with Bobby Gailes – host of WHUR’s “Taking It to the Streets” and Molette Green – host of NBC4’s “In the Community.” Bobby spoke with Prince George’s County Health Director Dr. Ernest Carter about why such events are so crucial to helping residents life their best life. Here’s to your health!!!
