A second day of school closures and delays…
The lingering snow and icy conditions prompted area school leaders to again delay or cancel classes today. The school systems closed today were all in Virginia. They include Arlington, Culpeper, Fauquier, Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Manassas City public schools.
On a 2-hour delay in Maryland are Prince George’s, Charles, Anne Arundel, St. Mary’s, Anne Arundel and Calvert County schools. In Virginia, the schools with a delayed start this morning are Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Prince William, and Loudoun County schools. The Presidents choice for AG appears on the hill…
Today President Trump’s choice for the new Attorney General is due to appear on the hill. William Barr is expected to be grilled by Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Barr who Trump nominated to replaced ousted Attorney General Jeff Sessions served as Attorney General during the administration of President George H.W. Bush. There is some concern over his nomination because of his comments of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe in the Russian meddling in the 2016 Presidential election.
Lawmakers reprimand Congressman King for racist comments…
The house is preparing to hold a vote today on whether or not to punish Republican Congressman Steve King for racist comments he made in a newspaper. King’s comments have drawn bi partisan backlash. King has been stripped of his committee’s by his own party.
King is back in the spotlight for questioning why the terms “white nationalist” and “white supremacist” were offensive. He later said he rejected those ideologies but it was too late many on both sides of the aisle believe the Iowa Republican who has a history of making racist comments should step down.
