A Weekend Call to Action for Black Women Business Owners

(Thursday, July, 25, 2024) – Washington, D.C. – Hundreds of Black women business owners and those aspiring to be the next generation of female founders will gather Saturday at the Sycamore and Retail Incubator in SE, DC for the 2nd Annual BlackBone Summit. This is a chance for women entrepreneurs to come together for a day of networking, mentorship, and empowerment.

The BlackBone Summit was founded by Monica Ray. “The BlackBone Summit is designed to help us build our capacity to fight in a very unfair system,” said Ray.

The summit’s theme is “Elevating Voices, Empowering Leaders” and will feature engaging panels with industry leaders discussing topics such as leadership development, overcoming barriers, and strategies for success. There will also be networking opportunities connecting mentors with like minded professionals and workshops with interactive sessions focused on skill-building, personal branding, and career advancement.

“We are honored to welcome D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Prince George’s County Executive and Maryland Senate Candidate Angela Alsobrooks, along with a host of others to the summit,” added Ray.

Sycamore & Oak Retail Incubator is located at 1110 Oak Drive, SE. “Our goal is to elevate Black women-owned businesses to become the most resilent, dominant, and influential employer firms, which will drive the economy in the District of Columbia.”
