Early Thursday morning, an unusual discovery was made in Prince George’s County: an empty casket was found abandoned on the side of the road in Marlboro Village, according to a report by Fox 5.
While the sight was certainly alarming, officials confirmed that the casket was empty at the time it was found. The Department of Public Works has since classified the incident as a case of illegal dumping.
Authorities have not yet identified who may be responsible for discarding the casket, and the investigation is ongoing.
