Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown has been ordered held in custody after being charged with causing significant physical harm for allegedly assaulting a music producer with a bottle at a London nightclub in 2023.
The incident, captured on surveillance footage, took place while Brown was on tour in the U.K. He recently appeared in court, and the case has been transferred to Southwark Crown Court for a hearing scheduled in June.
Brown, known for chart-topping hits like “Run It” and “Kiss Kiss,” is slated to launch an international tour next month.

R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested at a five-star hotel in Manchester, England, for allegedly attacking music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle at a nightclub in London.
The incident reportedly took place in February 2023 at Tape nightclub in Mayfair. Brown, 36, was taken into custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
According to The Sun, “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody, where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
Diaw alleges that the attack was unprovoked and left him with injuries that required hospitalization.“He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well,” he told The Sun.
