DC Cop Arrested in Virginia, Relieved of Duties

(Alexandria, VA) — A Metropolitan Police Department officer has been relieved of duties after his arrest in Virginia on Thanksgiving Eve. State police report a Tesla operated by Officer Peter McCauley was clocked at 95 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone on Interstate 395. McCauley is alleged to have sped off and the chase continued into Alexandria where he crashed into a second car near Seminary Road. McCauley, a woman riding with him, and the driver of the second vehicle were all taken to area hospitals. McCauley is 22 and has been a member of MPD for over three years. He has been charged with a felony count of eluding police, had his powers revoked, and is on non-contact status.
