Just how safe is DC? Crime figures from police show violent crime in down as much as 30-percent. Can the numbers be trusted? Two investigations, one by the Department of Justice and another by Congress, allege the Metropolitan Police Department manipulated crime data, cooking the books to make the city look safer than it really is.
