DC Leaf Collection Begins With Changes

(Washington, DC) — Time to sweep up those leaves. The D.C. Department of Public Works is starting to collect them all, but in a new way. Instead of crews using a fixed schedule, residents will now be notified two weeks in advance by way of door hangars. They’ll be asked to rake leaves into the tree boxes or edge of the curb. They can even check the status of streets that have or haven’t been cleared using a real-time, interactive map.
