It was a gruesome discovery. A body found after firefighters put out a brush fire in Bowie, Maryland earlier this year. It would later be determined that the victim was a 24-year-old woman from Northwest DC. She has since been identified as Marquita Lucas.

Thursday Metropolitan Police announced that they have arrested and charged 36-year-old Thomas Fields Jr. of Southeast. There are reports that the two had dated. Detectives believe she was murdered in a home in Southeast and then transported to where firefighters and police found her.

Police have not stated a motif in this case or how she was killed. Fields is due in court next Wednesday.
