DC Schools to Stay Closed for the Rest of Academic Year Harold Fisher April 17, 2020 at 12:57 pm in CORONAVIRUS, NEWS Tweet Students in the DC Public Schools system and charter schools will continue distance learning for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced today that because of the coronavirus threat, schools will also close three weeks early on May 29th. The mayor said there are plans to hold summer school learning. An announcement is expected about that and the start of the 2020-2021 school year on May 15th.
