DC Shootings Spur Call For National Guard

(Washington, DC) — The weekend shootings in Washington, DC that left six people dead is leading a councilman to call for the National Guard to come to the Capital. Thirteen people were killed in the first five days of this month. Ward 8 DC Councilman Trayon White Senior is now calling for the National Guard’s intervention during the city’s crime surge. He said, “We must declare an emergency regarding the crime and violence in our neighborhoods and act urgently.” He says the Guard could help protect the children of DC.
