DC Substitute Pay Increases Harold Fisher January 19, 2022 at 1:13 pm in NEWS Tweet (Washington, DC) — Substitute teachers in the District are about to see more money on their paychecks. Chancellor Lewis Ferebee and Mayor Muriel Bowser announced yesterday that subs will now make 17-dollars per hour. That’s up from 15-dollars-and-20-cents per hour before. Bowser said this was an important move to help create future career growth. Just last week a group of substitutes skipped work to protest for higher wages outside of the Wilson Building.
