(Rockville, MD) — Former Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker is making another run for Maryland governor. He tells Maryland Matters he wants to seek the Democratic nomination to fix education and healthcare issues. Baker says another key factor was his work with local leaders during the coronavirus pandemic. He sought the Democratic nomination in 2018 but ended up losing to Ben Jealous. Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot, author Wes Moore, and Ashwani Jain have already declared for the 2022 Democratic primary. Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski and current Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks are rumored to be interested in a run, as well.
