We take a look Black workers in the transportation industry. Diversity has helped keep america’s buses, trains, airports and highways moving for decades. While minorities make up nearly two-thirds of the nation’s transit workforce, figures show they’re still underrepresented in executive leadership and decision-making roles. What’s standing in the way of advancement, and what strategies are helping to build a stronger pipeline to the top? We’ll examine the state of diversity in transportation leadership. We’ll also preview the 55th anniversary of the conference of minority transportation officials, also known as COMTO.
