FDA Set to Ok Pfizer Vaccine for Teens

Youth as young as 12-years-old may soon be able to get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

Washington, D.C. – The Food and Drug Administration may be just days away from giving the greenlight to Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for youth ages 12 to 15.

Several reports indicate the announcement could come by next week.  The Associated Press is quoting sources saying the agency was expected to expand Pfizer’s emergency use authorization by early next week and perhaps even sooner.

Last month, Pfizer released preliminary results from its vaccine study of nearly 2,300 youth volunteers showing there were no cases of the virus among fully vaccinated youth.  That’s compared with 18  COVID positive youth among those who were given dummy shots.

Pfizer’s two shot vaccine is already approved among persons 16 and older.
