(Memphis, TN) — A federal grand jury has indicted five former Memphis police officers in connection to the death of Tyre Nichols. The 29-year-old died earlier this year from blunt-force trauma to the head three days after a traffic stop. The officers face multiple counts including excessive force, conspiracy to witness tamper and obstruction of justice. They also face multiple charges in a state case including second-degree murder and aggravated assault. The officers pleaded not guilty to the state charges.
