Housing Authority Police Officer Shot

A DC Housing Authority police officer was shot inside an apartment building near the Navy Yard Thursday. Authorities say around 6 a.m. police responded to a call of “unwanted guests” at the Carroll Apartments at 410 M Street, SE.

Officials say it was then that the Housing Authority officer found a man and women who would not leave the premises. The officer scuffled with the man, the man then shot the officer in the abdomen.

That suspect fled and barricaded himself inside a nearby garage for several hours before being apprehended by police.

Several streets were blocked off during the siege and residents were told to shelter in place. The wounded officer was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
