(Washington, DC) — It appears the longest-serving member of the D.C. Council will step down from office today, days before Council was set to vote on removing him from office. Jack Evans is scheduled to resign his seat in the wake of multiple alleged ethics violations. The D.C. Council was scheduled to vote on January 21st to remove the lawmaker from office after voting in December to recommend his expulsion. An investigation alleged that Evans used his positions as Metro Board Chair and on council to inappropriately benefit private clients.
