The deadline is today for residents in Virginia that wish to take part in the June 11th primary to register.
The Board of Election says voters do not have to register by party, in fact, they can choose which party they want to vote for each election. Residents have the option to vote via absentee ballot or by mail or in person. All ballots mailed in must be received by 7 pm on June 11th. Voter’s who choose to vote in person or in advance must show ID.
It’s important to note that the primary does not affect all voters since some races only have one candidate.
Here are some of the offices that are on the ballot, all 140 General Assembly, most House of Delegates and some Senate seats. Four Democrats are running for Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. There are races for Commonwealth Attorney in Fairfax County, City of Fairfax, Arlington and Falls Church.
