Metro Train Operator Fired Following Probe

The train operator did admit to using the autopilot feature even though it’s not yet authorized, but said he did it out of curiosity.

(Washington, DC) — A Metro train operator is out of a job after an investigation found he broke several rules that put passengers at risk. The Washington Metrorail Safety Commission said Tuesday that a probe found the operator switched to autopilot during a trip March 17th and ate a meal, both safety policy violations. The investigation was launched because his train skipped a stop in Virginia. The train operator did admit to using the autopilot feature even though it’s not yet authorized, but said he did it out of curiosity.
