(Montgomery County, MD) — In what some are calling a big win for affordable housing, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich is signing the recently-passed rent stabilization bill into law today. The County Council passed it last week on a 7-to-4 vote. The measure limits annual rent increases to three percent plus inflation, with a cap of six percent. The bill will go into effect in about three months. DC and Prince George’s County added similar rent increase protections for residents this year as well.
